Job Description:
This position controls loss and expense dollars for all levels
of exposure by evaluating claims, reviewing repair estimates,
calculating total loss valuations, and/or negotiating claims to a
fair and equitable conclusion. Also, developing and maintaining
relationships with repair facilities/external vendors and maintain
knowledge on current technology, repair costs, and equipment to
ensure accurate and economical repairs.
This position can be filled at both Senior and Non-Senior levels,
and sits in our offices in Davenport, IA, or Stevens Point, WI,
with a potential to work remote.What You ll DoAs a PSI Auto Damage
Appraiser with Sentry, you ll establish damage appraisals and
valuations according to company guidelines. In addition, you
ll:
- Write estimates and supplements to restore damaged vehicles to
pre-loss condition based on photographs supplied by the vehicle
owner or repair facility
- Use your thorough understanding of vehicle repair, parts costs,
total loss classification, and fraud detection
- Monitor and control rental expenses by managing the repair
process
- Resolve issues with policyholders, claimants, or State
Insurance DepartmentsWhat it Takes
- Associate Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2-5 years of related work experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain state adjuster/appraiser
licenses
- Thorough knowledge and experience in estimating automobile
collision repairs
- Body shop/estimating or previous material damage appraiser
experience
- Knowledge of claim processing and insurance coverage
- Acceptable motor vehicle record and the ability to meet travel
requirements with limited notice
- Well-developed organizational, human relations, and
communication skills
- Strong computer skills and demonstrated ability to learn new
systems quicklyWhat You'll Do:
- Verify that our customers have coverage
- Investigate and gather information about claims by contacting
all parties involved
- Accurately document all decisions, correspondences, reports,
and discussions
- Gain experience in determining liability and setting
reserves
- Evaluate your investigations to make decisions about the
claims
- Learn about determining if subrogation exists and taking steps
necessary for recovery
- Resolve claims in the best interests of the insured, the
claimant, and SentryWhat it Takes:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- 0-2 years of related work experience
- Prior knowledge of underwriting systems and/or various software
applications beneficial
- Completed insurance courses related to property and casualty
insurance, such as IIA and CPCU beneficial
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
skills along with analytical and mathematical skillsWhat You'll
